Budget

As my short film is for my media coursework, we can use the college's media resources to create our products. However, if I were to make this outside of college, I would need to buy a lot of equipment for the filmmaking to go ahead. The costs of this short film will come from:

- Canon 6D SLR camera (£1,500)
- Canon 5D SLR camera (£2,350)
- Canon 600D SLR camera (£400)
- GoPro Hero 4 + accessories (£300)
- Tripod x3 (£50 each = £150)
- 50mm lens (£100)
- Apple Mac computer + accessories (£1,600)
- Adobe Complete (£15.97/month)
- Location use (£5/pp)

- Lighting equipment (£400)
- Liquid Latex (£15)
- SFX Make Up kit (£15)
- Batteries (£20)

Fortunately, the only costs we have to pay, due to the media department already owning everything else and a friend allowing us to use her SFX make up for free, is the use of location. This is charged at £5 per person, and we have 10 people, so it will cost £50. Furthermore, this will come out of the media budget so we don't have to pay this money ourselves, but this is something we would definitely have to think about when making films outside of college.

When filmmakers have to fund their films themselves, there are many ways to go about this: applying for grants, selling screenplays, fundraising, try to make the film on no budget at all, and using locations such as our main location, Bodmin Jail, and selling the rights to the film to them for advertsing material, and more. So there are many ways to go about funding your short film, and when I am out of education these are definitely some methods of funding I will have to explore.
